Policies

Policy – The Catholic Youth Organization Bands of Kenosha, Inc is a nonprofit cultural and educational organization that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious belief, sex, age, national origin, disability, or any other classification protected by applicable law.

Mission Statement – The C.Y.O. Emerald Knights Band and Guard of Kenosha strives to foster the individual growth of its members creatively, socially, and spiritually through music education and quality performances.

Registration Confirmation – Registration is handled in writing – please download the registration form and return at your earliest convenience. Class participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmations will be sent via email once application and payment have been received and processed.

Classes Location – Most classes are held at St. Joseph High School (2401 69th Street, Kenosha, WI) while some classes are held at local parochial and charter schools. CYO reserves the right to move the location of a specific session at any time, for any reason.

Cancellation of class, withdrawal & financial obligation: – The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) reserves the right to cancel programs due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient enrollment. A 48-hour advance notice will be given and students may transfer to another program or receive a full refund. A student who gives notification of withdrawal at least 72 hours prior to the start of a term will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. Students register on a 9 month contract and assume financial obligation of both fall and spring semesters. Students who wish to withdraw during contract terms will pay a monthly pro-rated rate plus a $100 withdrawal fee. Registration is not transferable to another person. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to CYO.

Attendance Policy – Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons, classes, rehearsals and recitals. Please notify the teacher in an event that a lesson, class, or rehearsal should be missed, but this does not excuse payment for any part of the annual registration. There is no refund for absences. If a private lesson must be canceled, please call or email your teacher. Each student is allowed a maximum of THREE absences per month (for each class). Any rehearsal, lesson or class missed after the third absence will result in a charge of $10.00 per absence. Missed lessons, classes or rehearsals have no cash or credit value and are non-transferable to another student. If an instructor needs to miss a lesson, you will definitely be notified through email, twitter, facebook and/or website. We will arrange for a substitute teacher or a make-up lesson. Make-up lessons for Private Lessons may be offered in the form of a group master class at the discretion of the instructor.

Return Check Policy – $25 will be charged for all returned checks.

Siblings/Guests – In order to provide the full educational benefits of the curriculum, only registered participants and their parents/caregivers are allowed to attend. Unregistered siblings and guests are not allowed in the classroom and unregistered children may not be left unattended in the waiting area.

Inclement Weather/Emergency Closure – Cancellation of classes due to forces beyond the CYO’s control will not be made up, and a refund will not be given. Example of such incident includes but not limited to inclement weather, power outage, etc. Cancellation of classes provided at schools will based on decision made by hosting schools. Cancellation of classes in the CYO Music Room will be announced through email, twitter, facebook, and/or website. For class status, please check the CYO Twitter page or call (262) 656-1610.

Concerts – There are at least three concerts offered each school year, December, March and May. Each student will participate in these concerts. Participation in concerts is based upon teacher’s recommendation, however if each student keeps up with rehearsals and assignments, they will be adequately prepared.
